SILENT HEART ATTACKS

As someone who performs cardiac imaging for a living, this is something I see that many people never hear about until it shows up on a test.

According to statistics from the American Heart Association, of the estimated 805,000 heart attacks each year in the U.S., about 170,000 are silent heart attacks. No dramatic chest pain. No obvious warning. No memory of “having a heart attack.” Sometimes we find the evidence later on an echocardiogram — wall motion abnormalities, changes in heart function, or signs that part of the heart muscle may have been injured. And many times, the person came in thinking they were “totally healthy.”

Common risk factors I often see behind the scenes?

➡️ Uncontrolled blood pressure

➡️ Elevated blood sugar

➡️ High cholesterol

➡️ Chronic stress

➡️ Inflammation

➡️ Lack of consistent exercise

➡️ Family history of heart disease

This is exactly why prevention matters before symptoms show up. Know your numbers. Pay attention to subtle symptoms like unexplained fatigue, indigestion, dizziness, nausea, shortness of breath, or unusual upper-body discomfort. And if you have risk factors, talk with your provider about whether further testing is appropriate. Don’t wait for chest pain that might never come. Your heart can be struggling silently — but prevention does not have to be complicated. The Hubl Habit App was created to help you build the daily habits that support long-term cardiovascular health through structured workouts, heart-healthy recipes, and education that helps you understand your risk before it becomes a diagnosis.
